HE'S A COLORED MAN, And the Union Republican Don't Like Him. There is one thing that has long been noticed in Republican circles. It is almost invariably the case that when a colored man in the republican party begins to claim the rights to which his race are entitled some 01 tne white leaders are ready to jump on him with both feet and stamp the life out of him. The following is a clip ping from the Union-Republican in which it pays its respects to tne .Her ald, a new republican paper edited by a colored man: "The freedom with which the Twin- City Herald handles the names of gen tlemen shows a state of human deprav ity on the part of its editor and pro moters that is appalling. "The Republican never throws mud, but it is forced to say that the white men who are coaching that dirty sheet are a set of dirty liars and scoundrels Letters are received from parties who know the editor of the Herald, de nouncing him as a fraud and a dirty t.rick-stp.r. Decent colored people are indignant at his brazen affrontery and are already tired of his presence among them." The flatter of Athletics. Correspondence Telegram. The humorous and the pa thetic were each of them given with rare ability.
